Key Goal
- To enhance the effectiveness and reach of early warning and early action systems for improved disaster preparedness and strengthened resilience.
Cambodia and Lao PDR are considered highly vulnerable to climate change and are expected to experience adverse impacts from increased temperatures and aridity, as well as reduced precipitation, resulting in longer periods of drought during the dry season. Additionally, the more frequent occurrence of intense rainfall will lead to a heightened risk of flooding and flash floods during the monsoon period.

Continuing the Journey in Building Resilience for Cambodia and Lao PDR
The CREWS Southeast Asia phase 2 programme marks a major step forward in enhancing early warning systems and climate resilience in the sub-region, in particular in Cambodia and Lao PDR. This four-year, USD 7.82 million CREWS investment will run from July 2025 to July 2029. This second phase will build on the strong foundation laid by the CREWS Southeast Asia 1.0 programme, which supported national framework, risk databases, forecasting capabilities, and institutional coordination, while advancing the Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative in both countries.
