On 13 June 2025, WMO’s ASG Thomas Asare and Ethiopia’s Permanent Representative to WMO, Fetene Teshome, signed a new agreement to enhance collaboration on climate services and digital transformation in Ethiopia.
Facilitated by the CREWS Greater Horn of Africa Project, this partnership between the Ethiopian Meteorological Institute (EMI) and WMO will:
✅ Strengthen early warning systems at national and sub-national levels
✅ Deliver tailored climate services for key sectors — agriculture, water, and disaster risk reduction (DRR)
✅ Support the digital transformation of climate services through the implementation of ClimWeb and the development of EMI’s website
