A Milestone for Chad: First CAP Warning and International Data Sharing

SHARE

Chad has issued its first Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) warning and taken a major step by beginning international data sharing on meteorological and hydrological hazards.

This achievement is part of the broader initiative under the CREWS Chad project, which is supported by the World Meteorological Organization and NORCAP in collaboration with Chad’s meteorological agency, Agence Nationale de la Météorologie – Météo Tchad (ANAM). It highlights the transformative power of collaboration and technology in protecting lives and livelihoods in the face of climate risks.

Early warning is the cornerstone of disaster risk reduction. Chad’s progress is an inspiring example of how investment in capacity building can save lives. It also showcases the potential of digital transformation in addressing challenges like AWS interoperability and enhancing climate services.

This step not only boosts Chad’s resilience but also contributes to the global climate action agenda, aligning with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and the Early Warnings for All initiative.
