The Seychelles Meteorological Authority (SMA) has been very proactive in the implementation of CREWS-SWIO, being the National Meteorological and Hydrological Service (NMHS) in the SWIO region that has advanced the most. Seychelles’ progress now serves as a regional and global reference, showcased through a Study Tour on transforming NMHSs into agencies. However, continued support is required to sustain the SMA’s operations.

Sustaining SMA Operations During the Transition Period
To sustain momentum and ensure continued operation of the SMA during the transition period between the closing of CREWS SWIO phase 1 and the initiation of SOFF and CREWS SWIO phase 2, it is critical to move forward with the proposed activities under this ASW action note, leveraging resources from the GCF/AFD/EU HYDROMET Project for equipment and the Government of Seychelles for civil works.
