Launched in 2023, CREWS and its three implementing partners The World Bank, World Meteorological Organization, and United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) will assist six east African countries – Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda – to scale up early warning in their region as well as to support the East Africa Community EWS Vision 2025.
In collaboration with partner agencies such as the UNDRR and FAO regional partner, CREWS is working toward enhancing the national early warning services through developing tailormade system that is parallel with user needs. The main goal is to enable people and communities to take early action to save lives and assets.
With strong and effective early warning systems and services, countries will become more resilient to climate-related disasters.
